End of an era. Thanks, Soup, for my publishing my first puzzle in a crossword outlet, and the subsequent ones too. It’s always fun to chat to you about puzzles and other stuff. Have a great time not being the editor any more!

And welcome back, Tom. I look forward to sending you a puzzle next time I have a 1Across-ish idea.

Sad to see you go Hamish! I look forward to some more Soup in the future! I know we’ll be in good hands going forward.
I was going to ask if it’s just me or are the puzzles getting harder?! I do struggle with some of the preambles, ie in Chameleon’s puzzle when he refers to the ‘following solution’ does he mean following numerically or the next across or down solution? I ask this because the one solution I have fits with the clue above in the across clues. What a ramble – basically I haven’ a clue!

      Hi Sarah,
In Chameleon’s puzzle, the definition in each Across clue refers to the solution to the next across clue in the list. Likewise for the Downs. The two exceptions being the def in 29A refers to 1D’s solution, and the def in 25D refers to 1A’s solution. Hope that clears it up for you.

    Hi
Thanks, that really has cleared it up. I’m very pleased as it works with my first two clues! A way to go!

In November’s 2116 by Rattler, I believe “21” Down ahould be labelled as “22” Down. Hope that’s useful for anyone baffled – especially given the nature of the puzzle.
